Reggie

Reggie(Ch. Lonotonoket Black Hills Star)is our first collie and our first champion. Reg started our love of collies and our love of the sport of dog showing. Reggie came to us as an eight week old puppy. ( I'm trying to locate some pictures of him as a puppy for you).He and his litter mate flew into Bradly Airport in Hartford, Ct. on August 1st, 1993. That was the day Reggie Jackson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Thus the name "Reggie" (We are big Yankee fans!!!). One of our friends wanted a smooth collie puppy too, so they brought home Reggie's brother and named him Marcus. Marcus is doing fine and is living happily a couple of towns over."

We thought we might show Reggie someday, but we didn't know anything about dog shows. So for his first 21 months, he was the best dog we had ever had!!!!! Then my uncle, Frank Mitchell, the breeder we got Reggie from, came for a visit. He suggested we enter Reggie in a show that he was going to enter and he would show him for us. He did very well in his first show. He even beat his own champion mother(Ch. Black Hills Sea-Mi)and took Best of Variety. That was all it took for Kathy and I, we were bitten by the dog show bug. Reggie is quite an exceptional smooth collie. See the pictures below...he did a lot of winning!!!!

Reggie is all but retired from the show ring now. Occasionally, Little Kathy shows him in Junior Show manship competitions. That is just enough for him, he enjoys the fuss we make over him, the bath, the grooming, the attention from the onlookers, and most of all his favorite show treat...Corned beef.
