This page is about Us, the people who love collies. We are Karen and Kathy and Kathy's children, Little Kathy and Timmy. We live in East Haven, Connecticut. We have been involved in collies since 1993 when we got our first collie, Reggie(Ch. Lonotonoket Black Hills Star). You probably noticed that Reggie does not have the long fluffy coat you are used to seeing a collie have. He is what is known as a smooth collie. (Everything is the same as a long coated collie, known as a rough collie, except for the coat type.).Anyway, we just adore Reggie, and on the advice of my uncle, Frank Mitchell of Black Hills Collies, the breeder we got Reggie from, we began showing Reggie at dog shows. Neither one of us had ever been to a dog show before. We didn't know what to expect, but we went ahead and tried it. Well, at his very first show, Reggie beat his own mother, a champion already, and won Best of Variety that day. That's all it took, the dog showing bug had bit us both.
It was a long time after that first show that Reggie won another Best Of Variety ribbon, not from lack of trying, but from lack of experience on our part. Finally, Reggie's career took off, thanks to our friend and mentor Jan Wannamaker. Get the details on Reggie's show career on his page.
We loved Reggie soooo...much that we decided we needed more collies. Jazzy came next, then Sprite, then Rosie, then Jamie. Please read each of their stories on their pages.
We belong to The Collie Club of America, The American Smooth Collie Association, and to The Hartford-Springfield Collie Club where each of us is on the board of directors.
Little Kathy is involved in junior showmanship and is a member of The A.K.C. Juniors Club. Recently, she has become involved in obedience training, she and Rosie completed a novice obedience class in February.
Timmy is an aspiring junior handler, but he has a few more years to wait.
Please check back at this site for information about breedings and puppy availability. We will updating regularly.
